Tritium tubes on any watch are not visible in daylight. Tritium tubes use radio-luminescence to glow. Inside the glass tubes is a bit of tritium (H3, an isotope of hydrogen) that is decaying. As it decays, it emits a bit of energy. This, in turn, collides with a phosphorescent coating on the inside of the tubes. We see this as visible light.
The beauty of tritium is that it does not require a charge. It glows continuously for decades.Once your eyes are adjusted, tritium tube watches are very visible in low light and remain the best option for night viewing.
